Following a review that included input

from various members of the campus community, the official Amherst College seal has been modified into a refined version of the seal that was in use in from 1949 to 1961. We recommend using up current stationery, business cards and other items before ordering new supplies that have the revised seal. For more detailed specifications of the seal, and for questions about incorporating the seal into your projects, please contact Design Director Su Auerbach at smauerbach@amherst.edu or 413-542-8274. The new seal will be incorporated into the college's Web site banner soon. View the new seal, read about its background and history and find links to design

guides at the following hyperlink. More information...
Out of respect for federal and state

guidelines, and in observance of the prominence of our flag within the community, Amherst College will now lower the American flag only when asked to do so by the White House or the Massachusetts State House. The passing of members of Amherst College community will continue to be noted on the Intranet, and individual Web pages will now be set up to invite notes and remembrances. Please contact Sam Masinter at samasinter@amherst.edu if you have any questions about these or

other memorial policies.
